Streszczenie

Summary
The aim of the study was the evaluation of cognitive functions of town and village inhabitants. One thousand people who were more than 60 years old were randomized from the list of inhabitants of Pruszcz Gdański city and another thousand from the communes: Pruszcz Gdański, Trąbki Wielkie i Pszczółki. The cognitive functions were assessed according to the MMSE (Mini Mental State Examination) which were next calculated according to an algorithm proposed by Mungas et al. Village inhabitants presented more severe cognitive impairment. The possible influence of education, sex and age are discussed.
