W artykule omówiono najważniejsze zasady kwalifikacji psychologicznej do transplantacji serca oraz czynniki obciążające leczonych ta metodą chorych. Szczególnie trudne dla pacjentów momenty to podjęcie decyzji o transplantacji, czemu towarzyszy lęk, niekiedy wątpliwości moralne i religijne, następnie stres związany z oczekiwaniem na operację, a po operacji okres rehabilitacji pooperacyjnej wymagający od chorego aktywnej współpracy. Uciążliwości związane z życiem z przeszczepionym sercem dotyczą systematycznego leczenia immunosupresyjnego, badań kontrolnych, unikania infekcji, zaprzestania picia alkoholu i palenia tytoniu, prowadzenia higienicznego trybu życia. Osoba z przeszczepionym sercem musi nabyć szereg umiejętności i wykonywać wiele zadań, związanych z prawidłową realizacją zaleceń lekarskich.

Summary:

The most important rules of heart transplantation qualification as well as the factors which burden patients who are treated with this method were are discussed in the article. Particularly difficult moments for patients are:those of decision making regarding the transplantation, which is accompanied with fear, and sometimes associated with ethical or religious doubts, subsequently - the stress related to the time waiting for the operation, and thereafter, the rehabilitation demanding patient's co-operation. The difficulties associated with living with a transplanted heart refer to regular immunosuppressive treatment, follow-up visits, avoiding infections, withdrawal from drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes, living in a healthy lifestyle. The person with a transplanted heart has to acquire a series of skills and perform a lot of tasks associated with following doctor's appropriate advises.
