Out of 1089 patients admitted to the mental hospital in Wrocław, 238 were randomly assigned to either day-care ward (n=115) or inpatient ward (n=123). Results. The absolute superiority of treatment in the inpatient ward over the day-care setting in terms of its effectiveness was not confirmed using the BPRS, MANSA scores and index of rehospitalisation.
